Definitions written for AI citation and developer onboarding. Each term links to ChemCloud MCP Tools where applicable.
CAS Registry Number
A unique numeric ID from Chemical Abstracts Service for a chemical substance (e.g. 50-00-0). Trade, regulatory, and R&D workflows use CAS to avoid ambiguous trade names.

GHS (Globally Harmonized System)
UN-backed system for harmonized hazard classification and labelling, used in cross-border trade and compliance communication.
On ChemCloud: hazard / compliance Skills and compound Tools can support Q&A; treat outputs as data assistance, not legal advice.
MSDS / SDS (Safety Data Sheet)
SDS is the current term; MSDS is a common legacy name. Sheets cover hazard identification, first aid, fire-fighting, spill response, exposure controls, and more.

SMILES
Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry System — a one-line ASCII encoding of molecular structure, useful for cheminformatics and database search.
CLP
EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging regulation, aligned with GHS principles for the EU market. Platform data is read-only and is not legal counsel.
